Ballet is one of the most important fundamentals of dance. Ballet comes highly recommended as it promotes correct body placement, strength and coordination. Detroit Dance Center® is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATER® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development.

The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 3 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Linda Hendricks, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.

Jazz/Hip Hop

Our Jazz/Hip Hop class is a fusion of street dance, funk, and jazz, reminiscent of the high-energy moves seen in televised dance performances and music videos. This style blends the flair of break-dancing and body-popping with a strong focus on footwork.

Students will master isolations, dynamic moves, and the unique movements that define Hip Hop culture. Our instructors use age-appropriate, upbeat pop and hip-hop music to keep the rhythm and enthusiasm flowing. Join us to groove to the beat and unleash your inner dancer!

Contemporary dance blends techniques from ballet, jazz, modern, and lyrical dance, embracing innovation and improvisation. It prioritizes fluid floor work over traditional leg and pointe work, allowing for limitless movement and emotional expression.

It's a storytelling medium where dancers convey characters, events, personal stories, or abstract ideas. Costumes complement the music, and dancers often perform barefoot to various styles, from music to silence. Explore the boundless world of contemporary dance!

Tap dance is a rhythmic and expressive dance style that hones coordination, musicality, foot articulation, weight transference, and agility. Our classes introduce students to a variety of steps and progressions, enhancing their dance skills.

Each class includes center work, floor progressions, and dynamic combinations. Join us to explore the captivating world of tap dance and let your feet create rhythmic magic!

AcroDance (Acro)

AcroDance, often known as "acro," merges classical dance techniques with acrobatic precision and athleticism. Dancers combine musicality, emotion, lines, and extensions with acrobatics, crafting unique choreography.

Originating in Chinese dance and gaining popularity through acts like Cirque du Soleil and TV shows like 'So You Think You Can Dance,' acro demands both dance and acrobatic skills. It involves balancing, limbering, tumbling, and partnering, emphasizing flexibility, contortion, and strength. Dive into the world of AcroDance, where elegance meets acrobatic artistry!
