What do you get with you mix four passionate dance instructors with a global pandemic? You get budding studio owners. With the closing of so many academic institutions and extra-curricular activities, the DDC management team was faced with a hard question, "how would we do things differently?" It was from that question that Detroit Dance Center was birthed. Not only did we begin planning to become the new premier dance studio in the City of Detroit, we also planned to become the new "Motown" for dancers. Providing a rigorous dance curriculum that not only provides quality recreational dance training, but also, one that prepared serious dancers for dance in college and audition season in the industry.
Born and raised in the city of Detroit, Dominique began her dance journey at the age of 10. Studying heavy in Jazz and Modern dance, Dominique received her formal dance training for Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy where she was a member of their Pre-Professional Dance Program and Teaching Assistant program. Dominique obtained an Associates of Arts degree from Schoolcraft College and specializes in Office Administration and Marketing.
Along with having more than 10 years of experience in training dancers and choreographing for students ages 2 and up, Dominique is also known as a resource for concert planning, staging, lighting, logistics, and music editing. Dominique also holds a certification in Meditation from the Complimentary Therapist Accredited Association.
Jasmine began dancing at the age of 5 at Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy and she hasn’t stopped dancing since. It was there she received training in ballet, modern, hip hop and jazz. While dancing there she learned her love for teaching by being a part of Teen Mentoring Program. She has performed locally, regionally and internationally representing Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy, Cass Technical High School, and Michigan State University. After graduating from Michigan State with her BA in Chemistry she went on to teach in the Detroit Public Community District as a science teacher.
Her love for education and curriculum extends far beyond the classroom. After graduation Jasmine went back to her roots and began teaching dance as an instructor at Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy. During the duration of her teaching she obtained a Master of Science in Chemistry to extend her knowledge of Chemistry beyond high school. Jasmine has over 10 years of experience in teaching and curriculum. Teaching children is truly her passion.
Linda put on her first pair of tap shoes at the age of 3. Throughout her training, she competed in dance competitions locally, regionally and nationally, representing Sheryl's School of Dance in Novi, MI and Wendy's School of Dance in Detroit, MI. After receiving a BBA in Accounting from Howard University, Linda worked in auditing for a Big 4 accounting firm and became an instructor at Detroit-Windsor Dance Academy, specializing in jazz and tap. Once accepting a position as an internal audit manager in New York, she simultaneously continued her dance training in ballet, hip-hop and tap at Alvin Ailey Extension and Broadway Dance Center.
Linda has over 20 years' experience in training students in the art of dance, ranging in ages of 3-adult and has been choreographing pieces for various performances and competitions. She hold a certification in the Acrobatic Arts and the Progressive Ballet Technique curriculum.
