Dance Class Offerings

Ballet

Ballet is one of the most important fundamentals of dance. Ballet comes highly recommended as it promotes correct body placement, strength and coordination. Dancers will be encouraged to work on increased French ballet terminology, turnout, understanding the correct alignment and body placement. Each class will consist of barre work, center, petite and grand allegro work. The class will focus on posture, balance, self-discipline, grace, self-confidence, fitness, and individual expression. Once a student has mastered proper technique, a student may be able to advance to Pointe; which is at the discretion of the teacher.

Hip Hop/Jazz

Hip Hop focuses on combining street dance with funk and jazz, similar to what you would see in televised dance performances or music videos. The style encompasses the movements of break-dancing and body-popping with a concentration on footwork. Students learn isolations, dynamics and movement unique to Hip Hop culture. Teachers will use upbeat, age appropriate pop and hip hop music.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance is a fusion of  ballet and modern. Contemporary incorporates a plethora of techniques that focus on weight transfer, fall and recovery, movement on and off center, and slow and fast movement creating dynamics. This class will focus on Horton and Dunham modern techniques.

Tap

Tap is one of the most rhythmic of all dance styles. Students will be introduced to numerous steps and progressions that will better concentrate their coordination, musicality, foot articulation, weight transference, and agility. Class consists of center work, progressions across the floor, and combinations.

Acrobatic Dance

Acrobatic Dance is the amazing fusion of the artistic motion of dance and the athleticism of acrobatics. Skills taught in Acrobatic Dance might look the same as gymnastics, but they are taught differently. Graded curriculum for acrobatic dance is designed to promote excellence in flexibility, strength, limbering, tumbling, balance, basic contortion, and partner/group stunting for dancers.

Progressive Ballet Technique

Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT) is an innovative body-conditioning and strengthening program that has been designed to enhance students' technique by focusing on training the muscle memory required in each exercise in all forms of dance. It is a unique training system using ballet-technique specific exercises to train skill acquisition in a graded and progressive manner from junior through to advanced levels. PBT helps teachers around the world prepare their students to receive the strength they need to achieve their personal best.
